DraftKings Enters Historic Partnership With WWE

On March 29th, DraftKings and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) announced the two companies will be entering into a new partnership. As part of the agreement, DraftKings will now serve as the official gaming partner of the WWE.

“As a cultural icon and incredible sports and entertainment company, we are thrilled to join forces with WWE and introduce its devoted fanbase to the DraftKings brand,” said Ezra Kucharz, Chief Business Officer at DraftKings. “This relationship helps fuel the engagement and drama of WWE’s signature matchups and storylines as audiences enjoy the second-screen experiences our products provide.”

If the agreement is approved by the proper regulatory bodies, then DraftKings will receive an exclusive license to media assets as well as in-game branding for WWE pay-per-view events. Furthermore, WWE fans and DraftKings users will be able to participate in numerous free-to-play games and promotional events.

WrestleMania, the WWE’s annual two-night pop culture extravaganza, is scheduled to take place this month. WrestleMania 37 will be held in Tampa, Florida on the 10th and 11th of April.

The Profit‘s Take:

This is really smart. Increasingly, gambling companies are realizing that content is the best path to acquire users and keep them long-term. No doubt we will see more of this in the esports betting space as well.
