One in four Indian online gamers believe that esports can be pursued as a serious profession and turned into a full-time career. This information comes from a recent report conducted by the All India Gaming Federation (AIGF).
The AIGF said this was especially true amongst young people. 43% of Gen Zers and 41% of millennials believe relationships made through gaming can be as important as real-life friendships.
The survey said that almost 76% of gamers said they developed strong analytical abilities by regularly playing video games. Reflexes (65%), as well as strategy and logic (68%), were considered the skills that were most developed by gaming.
“Today, a professional gamer who has signed up with an esports company can earn anywhere around INR 5,000-45,000 per month. The 2019 India series of a popular mobile game saw the regional finalist team win INR 4,50,000,” it said in the report.
