New Report Shows Mobile Gaming Is Booming In Africa

A recent report was released by AppsFlyer as part of a collaboration with Google. This study highlighted the growth of mobile gaming in Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa from the first quarter of 2020 to the first quarter of 2021.

“Together with our friends from Google, we examine the state of mobile in Africa throughout 2020, covering the shifts caused by the pandemic right through to Q1 2021,” the report reads. “We consider some of the future opportunities for developers and marketers in Africa, as well as guidance on how companies and brands can better understand the app market and make informed marketing decisions.”

Mobile gaming app installations increased by 41% overall in Africa. Nigeria registered the most growth, followed by South Africa, and then Kenya.

Money made off advertisements also exploded. From Q2 2020 to Q1 2021, in-app advertising revenues went up by 167%.
