Esports data and technology company Abios has announced a partnership with Russian sports platform Sports.ru, which will see Sports.ru implementing Abios’ data to its services to boost its esports offering and enable growth. Specifically, the sports platform will incorporate several features including match and tournament calendars as well as in-depth statistics.
“Sports.ru and their esports initiatives have come a long way and answer the need for esports coverage in CIS-countries, as many fans, teams, and players are housed in the region,” said Jacob Howard, Key Account Manager at Abios. “We’re well-aligned with their mission to bring esports to a position where it’s on par with other sports and recognized as the ground-breaking phenomenon it is.”
According to the release, Sports.ru aims to fill the gap for a community platform for esports fans in Russia and the CIS region (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, etc). Its esports offering currently covers Cyber.sports.ru, an Android app called Well Played, and an app for the Russian esports org Winstrike Team. These platforms allow fans to take part in news, tournaments, match schedules, and community features for esports.
Abios will be able to support Sports.ru’s offering with esports data, enabling match and tournament calendars as well as live statistics and streams. For dedicated fans, the granularity of the data provides an opportunity for a deep dive into both live in-game and post-game statistics.
