“Garena Free Fire” Was 2021’s Most-Viewed Battle Royale Game

Garena Free Fire is the most-watched battle royale video game of 2021. According to a report by Stream Hatchet, Garena Free Fire has recorded 1.08 billion hours of content watched as of October 2021, beating Fortnite which had 1.02 billion hours of viewership.

“Mobile games have been on the rise across North American streaming sites in more than one genre. While Garena Free Fire is dominating battle royales, games like Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Arena of Valor have been growing their MOBA viewership,” reads the Stream Hatchet report. “With mobile games having a bigger impact on live streaming, brands could have a unique opportunity to engage with a new demographic of live streaming audience. Publishers and tournament organizers could also capitalize on the growing mobile esports scene in North America via new leagues and events.”

Fortnite actually had more viewership than Garena Free Fire through the first four months of 2021. However, Free Fire has beaten Fortnite in content watched every month since May.
