SPORTFIVE Agency announced the implementation of a global esports unit led by newly appointed Executive Vice President of Global Esports Partnerships, Eike Gyllensvärd, and Vice President of Global Esports, Moritz Altmann. SPORTFIVE also has plans to extend its esports consulting and activation capabilities globally.
“I am excited to see that our decision to invest into esports in 2016 was the beginning of a capability and service offering of SPORTFIVE that now reaches the next milestone,” said Robert Müller von Vultejus, Chief Growth Officer at SPORTFIVE. The appointment of Eike Gyllensvärd, who is one of our longstanding executives in sales and the driving force behind our strategic account management efforts in traditional sports, outlines our commitment and vision for the future of SPORTFIVE.”
SPORTFIVE initially invested in a dedicated esports department four years ago, when it was created in Germany, driven by Moritz Altman’s initiative. According to the agency, the internationalization of the “department is the next logical step.” Altman will lead the agency’s global business development, marketing & rights-holder operations for esports. Additionally, he will be responsible for the development of marketing and partner concepts for rights-holders in esports. Altmann will be supported by Thomas Ottl, who will work in a dual role to be responsible for the global operations on the rights-holder side as well as the collaboration with Riot Games, including the League of Legends European Championship. Eike Gyllensvärd, who’s been with the company for 18 years, and has played a significant role in the development of SPORTFIVE’s sales capabilities in Germany as well as globally, will take the reins on sponsorship sales to help nurture relations with rights-holders
The esports unit’s deal portfolio includes the advisory, sales, and activations for KitKat and Warner in the LEC, the partnerships of esports team T1 with Nike and BMW, as well as the collaboration of Joop! with SK Gaming and Levi’s with the Prime League.
