Gen.G and McDonald’s announced the organizations would be expanding their partnership into select parts of Texas, Kansas, and Oklahoma. As a result, the McDonald’s Crew League program was officially launched in the Southern Plains region of the United States.
“We know many of our crew members are avid gamers, so we wanted to offer new ways for them to connect, have fun and show off their talents by tapping into their passions,” said Alyssa Moten, a Wichita McDonald’s owner-operator, and the People lead for the McDonald’s Operators Association of Southern Plains. “We’re committed to enhancing the employee experience for our people and couldn’t be more excited to partner with Gen.G on this exciting esports initiative.”
The Southern Plains McDonald’s Crew League, which began competition on October 12th, will be a six-week-long play-in-style esports tournament. The series’ playoffs are scheduled to take place on January 8th and 9th.
McDonald’s employees will hold a vote to determine what game will be played during the tournament. This event is expected to feature a prize pool of over $2,000 in cash. Additionally, the grand prize winner will receive a championship plaque and belt for their McDonald’s franchise location.
