Equinix Inc. recently received a contract that will allow the organization to host a gaming platform that is operated by i3D.net on Platform Equinix. As a result, i3D.net will be integrated into 38 Equinix data centers around the globe to provide a seamless gaming experience for users.

This comes as part of i3D.net’s effort to reshape its infrastructure as the gaming industry continues to go through massive growth. This has caused i3D.net’s capacity needs to double.

“With online gaming undergoing an unprecedented surge in popularity, Equinix can strategically support i3D.net in delivering the best possible user experience to gamers around the world,” said Matt George, director of segment marketing for EMEA at Equinix. “Gamers are always striving to level-up, pushing themselves to better their skills and expanding their game-base; they expect nothing less from developers and providers. With new levels of demand, gaming platforms must be supported by robust digital infrastructure to enable the transfer of information at high speeds to ensure smooth game playing, while also offering the utmost security to protect sensitive player details.”

In 2019, i3D.net was acquired by the video game developer Ubisoft. Today, the platform hosts titles from several big-name publishers like EA, Activision, and THQ. The company aims to connect one billion users by 2025.
