KPN eDivisie, the official FIFA esports league of the Netherlands, recently kicked off its inaugural fifth season. It all leads up to the event’s grand finals which features a prize pool of almost $57,000.

Starting on November 9th and taking place every Tuesday, FIFA matches will be held every week at the H20 Esports Campus just north of Amsterdam. All contests will be broadcast on Twitch, YouTube, and Dutch ESPN.

“Slowly esports is being accepted more and more in our country,” said Arnoud Schonis, Project Manager Erevisie CV, the company that controls Dutch ESPN. “We pride ourselves on being the biggest esports property in the Netherlands and trying to bring esports to the mainstream every day. This year we expand our portfolio with two products, which makes the KPN eDivisie something to watch, something to participate in, and something you can visit. As soon as we can share more information about this, we will. With these three ‘products’ we expand our footprint and aim to reach the entire Dutch EA SPORTS FIFA scene as well as building our international fan base. This will be a year to remember.”

This tournament series will also be used as a qualifier for the FIFAe Club World Cup. Three teams from the KPN eDivisie event will automatically qualify for EA Sports’ FIFA 22 world championship event which runs from December 18th, 2021 to February 28th, 2022.
