The Michelin Cup has been announced for India this month, with registrations for the second week taking place as we speak. The tournament will have competitors from the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region, India, and South Africa racing against each other on PlayStation’s Gran Turismo. This is the second edition of the event after the inaugural edition was held earlier this year.
PlayStation and Gran Turismo are the official sponsors of the Michelin Cup. Each week will have the top two players from all three regions qualify for the grand finals on December 18th, where they will be competing for the lion’s share of a $40,000 prize pool.
Players who take part in the tournament race on Gran Turismo must post a screenshot of their fastest lap on Discord for validation. Additionally, players will race on the announced track with the same car as every other participant.
In 2019, PlayStation chose Michelin as the “official tire technology partner” for its Gran Turismo franchise. As per the multi-year agreement, the game will feature Michelin-branded tires and introduce players to Michelin’s history in global motorsports, performance, and innovation.
