Scopely Buys GSN Games From Sony Pictures For $1B

The mobile gaming company Scopely recently acquired GSN Games, which is a division of Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Game Show Network. This deal is reportedly worth $1 billion.

The purchase will be divided into two halves: one half will be cash while the other is equity in the company. If approved, this agreement will give Sony Pictures Entertainment a minority stake in Scopely.

“The GSN Games organization is an exceptional team, and we are excited to see what more we can accomplish together,” said Scopely’s Chief Revenue Officer, Tim O’Brien, in a press release. “We hope to take what is already a strong business and accelerate it through our publishing and technology infrastructure, unlocking even more value. Through this acquisition, we will continue to cultivate a loyal player base as part of our mission to inspire play.”

Scopely is a gaming company that was founded in 2011. The organization is famous for producing hit mobile titles such as Star Trek Fleet CommandMarvel Strike ForceScrabble GoWWE Champions, and Yahtzee with Buddies.
