Official Announcement From GOALS Promises Esports Ready Game

Andreas Thorstensson, a former Counter-Strike player and co-founder of esports organization SK Gaming, is producing GOALS, a new soccer video game. GOALS is set to become a fully licensed AAA title that can be played for free. The main focus is on the multiplayer experience. The topic of esports is also of great importance to Thorstensson and his company. Thus, GOALS will also focus on its esports compatibility.

“I am building my dream company – GOALS!,” Thorstensson tweeted. “A next-gen football (soccer) game backed by amazing VCs and angel investors. @goalsgame combines my deep interest in sports, gaming, esports, and new technology. After playing more than 5k matches of FIFA (FUT) and observing the esports scene for a long time it became painfully clear how broken it was with no signs of getting better.”

EA Sports has had the soccer gaming sector all to themselves for almost a decade now with the FIFA series. We can’t forget Konami fading into the ground with Pro Evolution Soccer – opting to launch eFootball 2022, which hasn’t gone down too well.

Thorstensson hopes to bring soccer gaming to new heights with GOALS, and change the market as well. A release date has yet to be announced.
