Consumer Spending On U.S. Games Hit $60.4B In 2021

Total consumer spending on U.S. games hit $60.4 billion in 2021. According to NDP Group, this represents an 8% increase year-over-year.

Call of Duty: Vanguard was the best-selling game American of last year. Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War came in second place. The third-most-popular game of last year was Madden NFL 22.

Hardware sales experienced massive growth in 2021 with revenues from gaming consoles hitting $6 billion, a 14% increase from 2020. The Nintendo Switch was the best-selling video game console in terms of sales dollars and units sold.

Since gaming grew, it only makes sense that the gaming accessories market grow as well. Consumer spending on video game accessories grew to $2.7 billion, representing a 2.1% increase from 2020 to 2021.
