Maryville University recently announced plans for expansion on April 4th. This is expected to include a 3,000-seat multi-purpose arena that can host esports events. The plans aim to convert the Woods Mill Center into a new arena.

“The internal digital experience for the fan is gonna be off the charts in terms of interactive and technology and all those great things that we come to expect these days, so it’s really gonna be state of the art experience for the fan, it’ll be state of the art experience for the participants,” said Maryville University President Mark Lombardi.

The plans for the arena have already been submitted to the Town and County Planning Commission. The hope is that the venue will begin hosting events in the fall of 2025.

Maryville University is a St. Louis, Missouri-based private school. There were over 5,500 students enrolled at the college as of the fall 2020 semester.
