CD Projekt Considering Menstrual Leave After GOG Introduces New Policy

The video game distribution firm GOG Ltd recently introduced a new menstrual leave policy for its employees in an unprecedented move for the gaming industry. GOG expects employees to use an additional extra day off each quarter, but the company will allow workers to take time off “whenever period pains occur,” explained culture and communication manager Gabriela Siemienkowicz.

This policy will allow employees to take paid time off on an hour-by-hour basis rather than being forced to take off an entire day. While the response to this policy has been overwhelmingly positive, Siemienkowicz said there is “still much work to be done, and our efforts towards making GOG a more inclusive workplace do not end here.”

One of the most interesting aspects of this change is that GOG is a subsidiary of CD Projekt, which means that it’s possible the Polish game developer and publisher could soon adopt a similar policy. In fact, CD Projekt PR Director Radek Grabowski said that the company is “looking into it further for the whole CD Projekt.”

“I can only hope that this policy will serve as a sign that GOG is an inclusive company that respects individual needs of its employees and that everyone can feel both safe and appreciated here,” Gabriela Siemienkowicz said.
