Say goodbye to a number of classic Sonic games. Sony recently announced the company plans on delisting several digital Sonic games including Sonic the Hedgehog 1, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Sonic and Knuckles, and Sonic CD. This comes ahead of the release of Sonic Origins, which is expected to feature remastered versions of all the previously mentioned games.
These delistings will reportedly take place on May 20th, which is roughly one month before the worldwide release of Sonic Origins. People that already own digital copies of these games will still be able to play them. But, after May 20th, these games will no longer be available to purchase on Steam or the Xbox Store.
There are two exceptions to this rule, though. PC Gamer is saying that Sonic One and Two will still be purchasable on the Nintendo Switch through Sonic Ages. On top of that, Sonic Two can still be downloaded through the Nintendo Switch Online Plus program.
This recent news has caused somewhat of an uproar amongst fans because all of these games originally cost about $5. Unfortunately, the cheapest versions of Sonic Origins are expected to cost up to $40, so it sounds like the fans will be the ones suffering the most from these changes.
