Grassroots esports company Panda Global has partnered with Nintendo to announce the Panda Cup 2022 Smash Bros. circuit, which will feature a $100,000 prize pool. A trailer for the tournament series, which will begin this month, was posted to Twitter on May 26th
Beyond that, Panda Global also unveiled the schedule for the 2022 circuit. The first event will take place on June 24th, 2022. It all leads up to the Pand Cup 2022 Finale which will run from December 16th to the 18th.
While this is obviously big news for any Smash fans, this does not necessarily mean that the game’s esports scene will be rising to the levels of the Dota 2 or League of Legends esports scenes. In fact, in the fine print featured at the end of the video posted to Twitter, it is stated that “Nintendo is not a sponsor, co-sponsor, or administrator of this tournament.”
