Riot Games recently announced the start of the first season of VALORANT tournaments exclusively for colleges, aptly titled College VALORANT. All colleges in the US and Canada with appropriate accreditation are eligible to compete in the three-tournament event. Riot Games had previously stated its intent to grow the college VALORANT leagues, so that it could form its own ecosystem around it, and the company believes that competition will be a great addition to receiving a higher education.

Schools can take part in tournaments that are available in their regions and play on those servers which will be most convenient for them. The top-2 teams will receive a direct invitation to the CVAL (as the league will be called) LAN finals, while the top-2 players with the most points in each region will also receive invitations to the tournament.

Each championship will begin with a round robin group stage, followed by knockout matches. The first two rounds they will play in a round robin and meet each other once, but starting from the third round a double round robin will be used. The LAN Finals will follow the same format as the regular leagues.
