Complexity Gaming Denied Major Partnership

Despite being a prominent player in competitive VALORANT, gaming powerhouse Complexity Gaming was denied partnership by Riot Games in the 2023 VALORANT Champions Tour Americas League, causing much confusion in the community. Complexity has since revealed that it would discontinue its “efforts in the VCT via [its] men’s VALORANT team,” however the organization was clear that it would maintain and support Complexity.GX3, its all-women’s VALORANT team.

“We are saddened by this decision as our submission was robust, detailing our history of success and innovation, as well as our vision for the future of Complexity within the new VALORANT ecosystem,” wrote Complexity following its rejection. “Our hope is that in the future, more opportunities will be opened to showcase the incredible depth of the North American talent pool. Until then, we’ll see you in VALORANT Game Changers with Complexity.GX3.”

It is still unclear as to why Riot turned down Complexity, a major organization with several major wins and a large fan-base. All that we’ve gotten from Riot is a one sentence answer:

“Complexity’s substantive and compelling application was not selected to proceed.”

We’ll have to sit and wait to see if anything more substantive is provided in the future, because as of right now, this whole situation is a complete mystery.
