Ludwig’s New Project Has Him Teaming Up With xQc

Ludwig is once again looking to flip the gaming industry on its head. The incredibly famous content creator and YouTube streamer recently announced his latest project: a creative talent agency that will help content creators plan, produce, and fund events. And, the new agency, which is currently being called Offbrand, already landed its first major client: xQc, who will be using the company to launch his very own Nickelodeon-inspired show called Juiced.

The first episode of the show aired on September 30th, almost a year after xQc released a teaser that suggested he was planning to launch a studio-based series. This six-part show will see teams of two participate in live game shows that feature both physical events and trivia. The losers of each series end up getting “juiced,” which is similar to getting slimed for you Nickelodeon fans. In classic Nick fashion, the losers will be doused in a green slime-like substance that comes out of a re-creation of xQc’s nose.

“If you are live ten hours a day, you’re a zombie after that because you put everything you have into that period of trying to entertain the viewers watching,” Ludwig said in an interview with The Washington Post. “It’s much better to think about what you’re going to stream for 80 hours and then to stream for 80 hours in a month — after a certain viewership point — than to just stream 160 hours with no plan.”

Ludwig is clearly excited about this next step in his professional life. He explained that decisions like this “will make sure that your career lasts longer.”

The Profit‘s Take:

Jeff “The Juice” Cohen needs to take legal action here. Either that or maybe he can just ask to be on the show. There’s always this pull for online content to evolve more towards the style of linear TV. Higher production value, more scripts, expensive studios, etc. However, all of xQc’s success has come from content that is the exact opposite. So, this confuses me. Part of xQc’s draw is that he’s off-the-cuff and all over the place. He’s not the guy I want streaming live on a highly produced game show. This HAS to be pre-recorded. I don’t think anybody would want xQc hosting a live show when you consider some of the things he might say. But, if it’s pre-recorded and perfectly packaged, then you lose the magic of xQc. It’s not him anymore. It’s a diluted version of him. I don’t want to be, but I’m so bearish on this. They should stick to what made them famous in the first place. If you’re going to make the move to TV, then go ALL THE WAY. Get it on NBC in primetime. These in-between moves never seem to find success.
