Visa Wants To Improve Financial Literacy With This Video Game

On September 26th, Visa released a new version of its soccer-themed video game Financial Soccer to coincide with the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup taking place in Qatar later this year. With this game, players can take control of their favorite countries and earn the title of the best soccer team in the world by correctly answering questions designed to help people make better financial/money-making decisions.

Visa, which is the official payment partner of the 2022 World Cup, is working with several organizations to bring the game to as many people as possible. In the new version of the game, players can choose to be represented by men’s and women’s teams. The gameplay is also available in multiple languages including English, Spanish, and Arabic.

The game features varying levels of difficulty when it comes to the questions that are asked. And, for the first time, Financial Soccer will feature a second game mode for small business owners. This mode encourages business management, budgeting, and more important skills.

“Access to financial education to gain knowledge is critical to help individuals succeed in an increasingly digital world,” said Michelle Gethers, the Chief Diversity Officer and Head of Corporate Responsibility for Visa. “Visa is proud to bring the power of its partnership with FIFA to the global stage of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ to provide a fun and engaging way for individuals and small businesses to begin or build upon their financial education journey.”

Financial Soccer can be played online by simply going to financialsoccer.com. Additionally, there is a free iOS and Android mobile application for anybody interested in playing the game on the go.
