On September 26th, Netflix Games announced it was opening another mobile gaming studio in Helsinki, the capital of Finland. Gaming industry veteran Marko Lastikka has been appointed the director of the new gaming studio.
In a blog post, Amir Rahimi, the Vice President of Netflix’s Game Studios, said that the organization chose to open a location in Helsinki because it’s home to “some of the best game talent in the world.” On top of that, Netflix acquired Next Games earlier this year, another Helsinki-based studio.
“This is another step in our vision to build a world-class games studio that will bring a variety of delightful and deeply engaging original games — with no ads and no in-app purchases — to our hundreds of millions of members around the world,” Rahimi wrote. “It’s still early days, and we have much more work to do to deliver a great games experience on Netflix.”
With this latest addition, Netflix now controls four video game studios. Besides this new studio and Next Games, Netflix also owns Night School Studio and Boss Fight Entertainment.
