Warner Bros. may be trying to create video game devices that can be used in moving cars. Based on the details of a recently filed patent, it sounds like the entertainment giant wants to allow people to play video games in cars, even while they’re in motion.
This patent, which was originally filed on April 4th, 2022 and published last month, is entitled HARDWARE FOR ENTERTAINMENT CONTENT IN VEHICLES. The filing laid out plans for a system that would allow commuters in self-driving cars to play multiplayer video games while the vehicle is being operated. Through the use of complex sensors, Warner Bros. claims that the device would be safe to use while the car is moving.
The filing says that an “apparatus” would be housed in a portable display in the car providing passengers with entertainment experiences. The patent also specifically mentions multiplayer gaming. And, as Game Rant puts it, this system “will utilize game streaming in some fashion.”
Warner is probably looking to have more success with its entertainment system than Tesla. Late last year, the company was forced to disable video games on vehicle touchscreens following an investigation from U.S. auto safety regulators.
