Back on March 9th, the Tomahawk High School kicked off its inaugural season. The Tomahawk Hatchet Esports team does more than just compete though. Ben Meyer of WXPR writes high school esports is a place for teamwork, community building, and higher education.
Meyer had a chance to interview Zach Suchomel, a junior member of the esports team. “It’s just such a great experience for people to do something and be able to be involved in a school extracurricular that isn’t traditional sports because some people aren’t interested in that,” Suchomel said to Meyer. “It gives us the opportunity to be a part of something, to be a part of a team.”
Tomahawk High School is located in Tomahawk, Wisconsin about three hours north of the state capital. The Hatchets currently play in District Two of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA).
