Women make up almost half the gamers in Australis. According to recently released data from Digital Australia’s 2020 Report, women over the age of 18 make up almost 47% of the country’s gamers. Furthermore, Nielsen is reporting women accounted for 59% of the 1.8 billion hours of video games played in Australia in 2020.
This reportedly included a variety of games including mobile games, first-person shooters, casual games, MOBA games, etc.
That includes a variety of games, ranging from playing a casual free game on a smartphone to playing professionally on games like Fortnite, a multiplayer battle royale game.
Despite these numbers being roughly in line both with the Australian population and global trends, female gamers still face hurdles from a male-dominated industry that has yet to catch up.
