The 2021 GT World Challenge Esports Championships season has officially begun. Three different continental championships are scheduled to take place this year in Europe, Asia, and America.
The Asian championship was the first series to launch (May 20th). After that, the 2021 GT World Challenge Europe Esports Championship began with sprint and endurance events on May 21st and May 22nd. The American season also began on May 22nd.
“Entering its third year of competition in 2021, the innovative Fanatec GT World Challenge Powered by AWS format adds a new dimension to customer racing by allowing both professional and amateur drivers to contribute towards their brand’s international success. Results are drawn from four established continental series, with the combined calendar spanning leading circuits in Europe, Asia, America, and Australia,” it reads on the GT World Challenge website.
As of Monday, June 7th, 2021, Mercedes-AMG is currently at the top of the GT World Challenge standings. The organization has recorded 3,836 points so far this season.
