US Cyber Games Hosts Inaugural Event

The inaugural US Cyber Games Kick-Off event was recently held on May 27th. The kick-off marked the historic launch of a program designed by government and industry professionals to increase esports market engagement while identifying the benefits of cybersecurity in gaming.

Several esports industry veterans spoke during the event. Roland Cloutier, the Global Cyber Security Officer for ByteDance and TikTok, gave the keynote speech. A fireside chat was also hosted by Jessica Gulick, the US Cyber Games’ Commissioner.

“Cyber Games are a fundamental element to developing the next generation of a diverse and well-qualified community of cybersecurity talent,” it reads on the US Cyber Games website.” Games not only help build a better workforce, they keep the current workforce sharp and maintain a thriving community of cyber professionals prepared for what the future might hold in cyber-attacks and possible disruptive innovations.”

The US Cyber Games is a year-long hunt for esports talent consisting of several events throughout 2021. This includes the US Cyber Combine Invitational and the selection of the first-ever US Cyber Team on October 5 to represent the United States at the 2021 International Cyber Security Challenge (ICSC) held in Greece.
