Report: Smartphone Games Generated $74.9B In 2020

According to recent research provided by 123scommesse, smartphone gaming generated $74.9 billion in 2020. The study indicates that this made up a 43% share of the global gaming market last year.

“Since smartphones became technologically capable of operating high-performance games, it has become the most lucrative source of revenue for the video game industry,” said Rex Pascual, the esports editor at 123scommesse. “As smartphones become even more and more technologically advanced, expect the smartphone market to gain an even larger share of the global gaming market in the coming years.”

The research showed that the global gaming industry generated $177.8 billion in 2020. Smartphone gaming accounted for the largest portion of this revenue, has generated almost $75 billion over the past year.

New surveys revealed that the global gaming market is expected to shrink this year. The global gaming industry will reportedly generate $175.8 billion in 2021, a 1.1% decrease from 2020.
