LG Debuts UltraGear GP9 Gaming Speakers

Korean tech company LG is expanding on its portfolio of premium gaming products through the UltraGear line with the release of the brand new GP9 Gaming Speakers. This immersive gaming speaker is designed for those players who want the ultimate gaming experience, but want to take a break from their headphones.

The new standalone speaker boasts LG’s proprietary 3D Gaming Sound technology which incorporates a specially designed HRTF (head-related transfer function) algorithm to tailor a game’s audio according to genre. The resulting Game Genre Optimizer allows you to switch between first-person shooter mode and a real-time strategy mode, adjusting the speakers according to your gaming needs.

The GP9 carries 3D Gaming Sound technology to provide 7.1 virtual surround sound, while the ES9038PRO Hi-Fi Quad DAC inside provides more balanced sound while reducing noise. Rounding out the speakers are various input ports including USB-C, AUX, Bluetooth connectivity and an optical port. A built-in battery can provide a playtime of roughly five hours on a single use.

The GP9 also features a one-of-a-kind “voice chat” gaming speaker that allows users to communicate with other players without the need for separate headsets or microphones. The built-in microphones utilize LG’s unique echo-cancellation algorithm which can distinguish a user’s voice from game sounds and background noises. For those interested, LG’s UltraGear GP9 gaming speaker will be available in September for roughly $470 USD.
