On September 21st, Misfits gaming Group announced it had secured $35 million in a recent funding round. The E.W. Scripps Company led this round with a $10 million investment.
This investment will see E.W. Scripps appoint a person to Misfits’ board of directors. This individual will assist with the operational support of MGG while helping the company distribute content through a variety of media channels across the United States.
“At this point, the esports side of our business runs at a steady-state, where there’s enough infrastructure in place allowing that part of our business to operate rather seamlessly,” said Misfits Gaming Group co-founder Ben Spoont. “We and I really sought out a strategic partner. Not just someone who could provide capital to fuel that growth, but someone who could be with me and us along that journey and help us monetize, commercialize, strategize and be a true force multiplier for our business.”
Misfits Gaming Group is a world-renowned video game organization based in South Florida that was founded in 2016. The company currently supports rosters that compete in well-known titles such as League of Legends, Overwatch, and Call of Duty.
