Verizon Continues To Be A Big Player In The World Of Esports

Verizon took center stage at the E3 video game industry trade show that was held from June 12th to the 15th. The telecommunications provider gave the keynote address at the three-day-long event.

During the speech, Verizon unveiled advancements made to the company’s 5G network and the organization’s Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) software. Verizon also said it will be launching the Verizon Game Forward Scholarship at historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). This $1 million grant will be given to underrepresented members of the gaming community.

Verizon also announced it had entered into a partnership with Electronic Arts Inc. (EA). This collaboration will allow EA developers to utilize Verizon’s 5G network solutions and 5G labs in order to produce the best experience possible for titles like EA SPORTS Madden NFL Mobile.

Verizon revealed it had agreed to partner with the esports organization Team Liquid. As a result, Verizon’s logo will appear on Team Liquid jerseys. Verizon will also serve as the company’s official 5G partner.

“Verizon’s 5G continues to deliver impressive offerings in and around gaming,” said Mike Milanov, the Chief Business Development Officer at Team Liquid. “We’re eager to kick off our first-ever mobile network partnership and collaborate on innovative platforms and activations that help both Team Liquid and Verizon better connect with and support our communities.”
