Kanga Acquired By Riot Games

The popular publisher Riot Games recently announced it had acquired the media technology start-up company Kanga. At this time, the financial details of this deal have not been revealed.

The acquisition took effect on October 15th. Kanga will reportedly work with Riot’s Global Digital Esports group to develop fandom features and experiences.

According to a press release, Kanga’s founder, Jake Perlman-Garr, will take on an undefined position at Riot Games. Besides Kanga, Perlman-Garr has worked for big-name organizations like Datavore and Goldman Sachs.

 “We are thrilled to have Jake and his team join us in our quest to make the world better for esports fans. Kanga represented the very rare and perfect mix of talent, shared vision, passion, and value alignment,” said Luke Cudney, Director of Esports Product Management for Riot Games. “I am so excited by what we are building together to foster deep, meaningful fan participation with esports.”
