Activision-Blizzard Shareholders Demanding Bobby Kotick Step Down

On November 17th, Activision-Blizzard shareholders issued a letter to the company calling for the resignation of CEO Bobby Kotick as well as two other long-serving board members. This comes just days after a report from The Wall Street Journal indicated that Bobby Kotick knew about numerous cases of sexual harassment in the company’s working environment and worked to cover up those alleged incidents.

“As new reporting indicates, and in contrast to past company statements, CEO Bobby Kotick was aware of many incidents of sexual harassment, sexual assault, and gender discrimination at Activision Blizzard,” wrote the SOC Investment Group. “We, therefore, call on Mr. Kotick to resign as CEO of the company.”

The letter also called for the resignation of Brian Kelly and Robert Morgado, two of the most senior members of Activision-Blizzard’s board of directors. The SOC Investment Group said that these resignations would ensure the implementation of top-to-bottom reforms within the organization.

Shortly after The Wall Street Journal released its report, Activision-Blizzard issued a statement supporting Bobby Kotick. This decision has been met with a lot of backlash both inside and outside of the organization.
