Gaming Studios And Groups Slam Valve For NFT & Blockchain Ban

Fight for the Future, Enjin, The Blockchain Game Alliance, and 26 other blockchain gaming studios recently sent an open letter to Valve blasting the company and demanding it reverse its decision to ban NFT and blockchain-based games from Steam. A recent update to Steam’s rules and guidelines revealed the platform has banned games that are either built on blockchain technology or allow for the trading of NFTs and cryptocurrencies.

“Valve, Web3 games are a fast-moving and exciting category of games that have a place within the Steam ecosystem,” reads the open letter. “Please consider changing your stance on this issue and permit tokens and, more broadly, the use of blockchain tech on the Steam platform. Don’t ban blockchain-based games on Steam.”

Valve did respond to the open letter. According to Chris LoVerme, the CEO of SpacePirate Games, the company said it would still not allow NFT games on its Steam platform.
