According to Bloomberg, Sony’s PlayStation division is reportedly planning to create a subscription service that can “compete with rival Microsoft Corp’s popular Xbox Game Pass.” This information was first told to Bloomberg by “people familiar with Sony’s plans.”
According to documents reviewed by Bloomberg, the service has been given the code-name Spartacus. It will reportedly be a three-tier service that offers access to PlayStation’s massive library of games.
The documents also revealed that tier-one will involve users signing up for a PS Plus account. The next tier will give subscribers access to PS4 and, eventually, PS5 games. Tier-three will include PS1, PS2, PS3, and PSP games.
Spartacus is reportedly expected to launch in the Spring of 2022. At this time, not much else is known about the rollout of this product.
