On September 20th, For Soccer Ventures announced it had agreed to a partnership with EA Sports. This deal will see the two organizations work together to launch a national video game tournament series in the United States.
The inaugural EA Sports eAlianza Cup will be a virtually played FIFA 22 tournament. Four qualifying events for the series will be held between October and January. After that, the National Final is scheduled to be held in February of 2022. The tournament is expected to feature a $5,000 prize pool. Additionally, each finalist will receive a PlayStation 5.
Eight days later, LEARFIELD announced it would be bringing back the LevelNext collegiate esports league as part of a joint effort with Electronic Arts Inc. This Madden NFL 22 tournament is expected to feature a $150,000 prize pool.
Registration for the event closes on October 10th. The tournament series is scheduled to kick off on October 14th.
