“Free Fire” To Launch Esports Division For North America

Garena has announced that they will be launching their own Free Fire Pro Series in North America. The series starts on October 30th, but registrations are already open. The competition will be divided into four stages. The open qualifiers will be held over three rounds from October 30th to November 7th and will feature 144 teams fighting for the 24 spots in the group stage. The qualifying squads will then compete from November 13th to the 28th with a last chance qualifier stage on December 4th and 5th. Twelve teams will advance to the grand finals, which will run from December 17th to the 19th with six games per day. The grand champions will be crowned on the 19th.

The prize pool is $50,000 for what will be Garena’s first official competitive tournament in North America. Aside from the prize pool, which will be divided among the top 12 teams, bounties will also be in play for more chances to win. Squads can get prize bonuses for having the most total kills, most team Booyahs, or Kings of Bermuda.

While Free Fire is quite popular internationally, it does not have the same following in North America. Garena is hoping to solve this issue through this new exposure.

Although it has not yet been announced whether the tournament will be played in person or virtually, the Free Fire Pro Series North America will stream on the Free Fire North America YouTube channel. To guide viewers through the fierce competition, a team of talented Free Fire commentators and content creators will serve as casters throughout each phase of the broadcast.
