The Kansas City Pioneers recently agreed to a partnership with the Major League Soccer team Sporting Kansas City FC. As a result, the Pioneers will work with Sporting KC to launch numerous esports promotions, activations, and events.
“We are extremely excited to work with the KC Pioneers,” said Blake McFarland, Director of Fan Development for Sporting KC. “Like Sporting Kansas City, the Pioneers are a local sports organization who is proud to represent Kansas City on a global stage. We know this partnership will further connect our fans and the KC Pioneers fans through competitive esports and gaming.”
This is the first partnership between a professional Kansas City sports team and an esports organization. Prior to this deal, Sporting KC had a dedicated esports division that currently competes in the eMLS, which is Major League Soccer’s gaming league.
