The Monaco Esports Federation, Monaco Esports, and Nicecactus have announced the second annual Monaco Gaming Show, featuring tournaments in Fortnite and Rocket League, with a $22,609 prize pool announced for both titles. The event is set to take place from December 18th to the 20th, with Fortnite qualifiers beginning on the 13th.
“Sport is anchored in Monaco’s culture and occupies an important place in the principality’s landscape,” said Mike M. Hessabi, President of Nicecactus. “Through the Monaco Gaming Show, esport and social gaming now have a yearly event of their own. Nicecactus is proud to organize this event for the second consecutive year with our partner, the Monaco Esports Federation, and under the high patronage of the Principality.”
According to the release, qualifiers for the Rocket League tournament have already been held. The competing teams include Team Liquid, Natus Vincere, ForFunSmileyFace, Team Queso, Endpoint, Dignitas, BDS, and Team Vitality. Partners of the event include ice cream brand Magnum, performance technology company Hyperice, telecommunications company Telis, and technology firm Intel, as well as media entities NRJ and Melty.
Additionally, the Monaco Gaming Show will feature multiple “surprise” events and other unspecified activities for attendees.
