As 2021 comes to a close, we continue to see organizations post “year in review” pieces. Now, Spotify has joined in on the fun after the music streaming service unveiled the most popular acts according to console gamers.
These lists were announced by Spotify as part of The Game Awards 2021. The company listed the most-listened-to tracks, artists, and podcasts on the Spotify app for PlayStation and Xbox users.
The most streamed female artists in order were Doja Cat, Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, Dua Lipa, and Olivia Rodrigo. Meanwhile, Juice WRLD was the most streamed male artist followed by XXXTENTACION, Polo G, Drake, and YoungBoy Never Broke Again.
Polo G’s Rapstar was the most popular song according to console gamers. After that came Montero (Call Me By Your Name) by Lil Nas X. With Industry Baby coming in fourth place, Lil Nas X was the only artist to have two songs ranked in the top five over the last year.
