OpenBCI Raises Funds For Brain-Computer Gaming Interfaces

OpenBCI recently completed a round of funding that will be used to build the neurotechnology needed for brain-computer interfaces in games, health, etc. Investors in this round included Bitkraft Ventures, re.Mind, and NaHCO3.

These investments will be used to scale the organization’s team while the company prepares to launch its latest product, Galea. This will be the first device that simultaneously measures a user’s eyes, brain, muscles, skin, and heart. Galea’s multi-modal network and software will work as an add-on for VR and AR headsets.

“The next generation of computers will be highly personalized based on data collected from sensors like the ones in Galea,” said OpenBCI CEO Conor Russomanno, in a statement. “With Galea, we are looking to create a powerful platform for the companies, developers, and researchers who are already exploring how these signals will be integrated into everyday devices. Our ultimate goal for the next era of OpenBCI is to play a major part in the creation of the ‘Operating System of the Mind.’”

OpenBCI is a Brooklyn, NY-based organization. The company was originally founded in 2014.
