2021 Was Very Kind To Twitch And Facebook Gaming

Twitch and Facebook Gaming experienced massive growth in 2021. In fact, both live streaming platforms grew by about 45% year-over-year when compared to 2020, according to data collected by Rainmaker, an analytics partner of StreamElements.

Twitch viewership increased from 17 billion hours of content watched in 2020 to 24 billion hours in 2021. xQc was the top streamer within the Twitch ecosystem last year, with more than 261 million hours of content watched, signifying a massive increase from his 2020 numbers (143.6 million hours watched).

Meanwhile, Facebook Gaming grew even more. Use of the streaming platform increased by 47% from 2020 to 2021. The platform went from 3.6 billion hours of content watched to 5.3 billion hours last year.

YouTube Gaming also announced that it had over 800 billion gaming-related views alongside 90 million hours of live-streamed content. At this time, the end-of-year figures for the company have not been officially announced.
