Guild Esports Signs Property Lease For New Headquarters And Academy

Guild Esports PLC recently announced it had signed a 10-year property lease in London’s Shoreditch area. This will allow the company to establish a new corporate headquarters as well as the Guild Academy for team training and talent development.

“In addition to nurturing new talent and providing state of the art training grounds for our pro teams, we also expand upon brand recognition and unlock a range of commercialization opportunities, which we look forward to realizing in due course,” said Kal Hourd, the CEO of Guild Esports.

The 9,831-square-foot facility is located in the heart of London’s booming technology hub. The venue is expected to open its doors during the second quarter of 2022.

The facility will provide a state-of-the-art physical space for the Guild Academy. The venue will also house Guild’s head office while acting as a central hub for global operations.

The Profit‘s Take:

I had a good chuckle when I read this. We have discussed gaming and content houses ad nauseam. Great news though, David Beckham is “really excited” about this. I hate this SO MUCH. The absolute lamest thing any company can do is be a copycat. At this point, every esports org in the United States has done this. Now, Guild wants to do this and be cool. This is not cool anymore. This was a good plan two and a half years ago. They’re late to the party. Guild Esports has no original thoughts. Do something, ANYTHING original. This is so lame that it angers me. Everything about Guild Esports is so underwhelming. I am annoyed they still get attention. Don’t get me wrong, I want esports orgs to succeed. I just haven’t seen one smart or interesting idea from Guild.
