The world-famous gaming organization Astralis recently announced it had acquired a majority stake in the Danish internet-based broadcasting company PiXEL.TV. The financial details of this agreement have not been revealed at this time.
This deal aims to enhance Astralis’ digital production capabilities while still allowing PiXEL to still create its own original content. Additionally, Astralis said that this will help PiXEL.TV achieve its goal of becoming the largest gaming platform in Denmark. Unsurprisingly, this acquisition also means that PiXEL can now expand its offering of esports content.
“With the opening of Astralis Nexus, we have established a platform where we interact with Astralis fans and the huge audience for casual gaming,” said Jakob Lund Kristensen, the Founder of Astralis. “Just as the Astralis Nexus is for everyone, whether you are a hardcore Counter-Strike player or just having fun with Candy Crush, with a broad range of content, PiXEL.TV will be a broad, inclusive media platform embracing all types of gamers.”
PiXEL.TV was founded in Denmark in 2007 as the country’s first internet-based TV station. After starting out as a gaming company, PiXEL.TV expanded its offering to include other forms of content like movies and other types of videos.
