Rocket League Developer To Locally Sponsor USL Team Jerseys

Psyonix, makers of Rocket League, are expanding a deal with the local United Soccer League club to put Rocket League on the front of the team’s jerseys. Psyonix will be the new main kit sponsor for San Diego Loyal SC this season, replacing Stone Brewing, another local business. Rocket League was previously on the back of the team’s jerseys. The partnership aligns with Loyal SC President Ricardo Campos’ desire to keep sponsorships tied to the San Diego area.

“We always wanted to stay local, which certainly makes it a little more challenging for a few different reasons,” said Campos. “One is the number of people that you’re going to talk to is reduced, but also sometimes the financial power that these companies may have are not as strong. … We’re very lucky in that San Diego is a kind of a secret spot. There’s a number of high-quality big corporations with high profits that are looking for this kind of exposure. You wouldn’t think that Rocket League is based in San Diego.”

Campos is also helping grow brand awareness for Rocket League among Loyal SC fans who may not have played the game (or even heard of it). “We’re happy to educate them,” he said. “There’s a lot of people who might not know it, but there’s also a lot of people who might go, ‘Wow, this is now a real connection of a game that I love with a sport that I love.’ It’ll go both ways.”
