Texas Tech University’s College of Media & Communication hosted a Hispanic and Latin-American Gaming symposium on February 25th and 26th. Admission to this event was free and open to the public but required registration online.
This comes as part of a combined effort between the Thomas Jay Harris Institute for Hispanic & International Communication and the Game Design Culture program at TTU’s College of Media & Communication. The goal of the symposium is to elevate the study of Hispanic and Latin American video game culture while providing students with opportunities to apply for and create esports-focused scholarships.
Several well-known gaming industry experts took part in the event. Anna Huerta, who is the Senior Design Director for EA and Maxis, was the event’s keynote speaker. A pair of TTU professors also spoke at the symposium the following day on February 26th.
Texas Tech University is a public research institution located in Lubbock, Texas. As of September of 2021, there are over 40,000 students enrolled at the school.
