Gamesindustry.biz reports that 2016’s Dark Souls 3 previously held the record for the biggest boxed retail launch in franchise history. However, Elden Ring has already beaten that game’s boxed launch by 26% in the United Kingdom. This is before taking into consideration digital sales, which were not released at the same time as the boxed sales data.
Elden Ring is the third biggest retail launch of 2022 behind only Pokémon Legends: Arceus and Horizon: Forbidden West. For the week ending February 26th, Elden Ring emerged as the best-selling boxed game in the UK according to GfK data.
