Star Wars Eclipse Delayed Until 2027 At The Earliest

The release date of the highly-anticipated video game set in a galaxy far, far away, Star Wars Eclipse, has reportedly been delayed to 2027 at the earliest. This comes as the French company behind the game, Quantic Dream, has struggled to add talent to its roster of creators, developers, and designers.

A trailer for Star Wars Eclipse made its debut at The Game Awards 2021, which took place on December 9th, 2021. Even though the piece had “an extremely favorable reception,” the game has not been able to attract developer talent to Quantic Dream.

There is evidence online showing exactly how bad the hiring struggles have been for the company. Three months after the game was announced, the organization’s website listed 67 jobs openings in Paris, France. However, according to an investigation by Xfire, Quantic Dream had been manually updating the “published on” date of every job listing to make the positions look like they opened up more recently.

When visiting the Quantic Dream job board, the oldest vacancy was reportedly listed at the beginning of February 2022. However, by using a digital internet archive tool, Xfire was able to verify that these same roles (that were listed under the same URLs) had been published “in some cases nearly two whole years earlier.”

The Profit‘s Take:

I don’t get this. You might as well not announce the game. You should always under-promise and over-deliver, that’s business basics 101. The sooner the gaming industry learns that, the better.
