University Of Arizona Opens Doors On Esports Arena

After launching an esports program, it is now clear that the University of Arizona is looking to make video games an integral part of the school’s educational offering. This comes after the university recently opened the doors on a brand new esports arena located at the Student Union’s Memorial Center.

The arena offers a pay-per-hour option for anyone to use. Individuals with Catcard discounts will pay between $4 and $18 for gaming sessions. However, general purchasers will have to pay between $7 and $31.50 if they want to use the venue.

“Esports is more than just playing games competitively. Arizona Esports is also here to prepare you for a career in this growing industry,” the university shared in a post online. “This graphic gives just an idea of the many careers in esports.”

The University of Arizona currently offers gaming-related courses that span nine different majors and minors. This includes classes that cover esports, the business of the gaming industry, broadcasting, programming, video game design, and a host of other topics.

The University of Arizona is a public research land-grant institute based in Tuscon, Arizona that was founded in 1885. As of the fall 2020 semester, there were over 36,500 students enrolled at the school.
