The athlete-focused NFT platform Game Coin will be creating cryptocurrency fan tokens for 61 Louisiana State University student-athletes. This project was made possible thanks in part to a new deal that was brokered by the NIL marketplace MatchPoint Connection.
LSU athletes will be able to sell their NFTs on Game Coin’s non-fungible token marketplace, which is expected to launch later this year. Some of the athletes joining Game Coin include baseball players Jacob Berry and Gavin Dugas, basketball players Tari Eason, Alexis Morris, and Khayla Pointer, and LSU gymnast Sarah Edwards.
“We are excited to see where this partnership takes these hard-working athletes. Our platform will give them the ability to create their own NFTs and launch their own Fan Tokens. This will allow each athlete to build their brand and monetize off the sales of their NFTs and Fan Tokens throughout their sports journey on and off the field,” said David Mahler, the CEO of Game Coin.
Game Coin reports that its cryptocurrency platform has had a market capitalization of $1 billion since June of 2021. Additionally, the company plans on developing a social media platform where student-athletes can post highlights, statistics, and training regimens.
